How do I work ?

One of the first questions a lot of couples ask is ‘What is your style?

I think the best answer here is that I work hard to write and deliver a ceremony for you that is really reflective of who you are and what you are looking for.  Most couples who approach me are looking for a meaningful and warm ceremony with some lighter moments where they can share some amusing stories or anecdotes with family and friends... and for me it’s all about getting the balance right for you!  That’s my style.

I might meet with you first of all online or in person depending on what works best.  When we have decided to work together I will send out some background information and reading material to give you more of an idea of what is possible.

In time I’ll start to ask you for information which will help personalise your ceremony and when I have enough, I can start to put together a draft ceremony.  From there we edit and update the draft until it is just as you want it.

I’ll have lots of ideas too if you are looking for suggestions and creative thinking !

It doesn’t matter how many emails we go back and forth with or meetings we need to have, we keep going until your ceremony feels perfect for you.

I’ll advise on the legal side of things, how to Register your wedding with the local Registrar as well as choreography on the day - even informal small weddings have an element of who does what and what goes where - and I’m very happy to help out with all of this too!

Where do I work ?

I have been known to travel across Scotland to weddings but in the main I can be found at weddings in the Central belt - Stirlingshire, Perthshire and Fife.  However with my Historian hat on- I’ve never knowingly let a castle or historic building venue request go past me easily!

I love being outdoors and will happily travel with you to a Lochside or a mountain for your ceremony.  Oh and I’m from Glasgow - so yes to Glasgow ceremonies!!

I’ve been asked many times if I have a Celebrant bucket list... this has to include someday going to St. Kilda, a Lighthouse (anywhere !), or the top of a ski-slope - how’s that!

How do you book me ?

Along with all of my lovely HSS Colleagues, I have a video and profile page on the HSS Website - I can be booked directly from there using the ‘Secure your Date’ Dropdown or you can use the contact form on my website.

What are my fees ?

HSS Celebrants all pay some of their fees back again to the Humanist Society to support the development and growth of the Society in Scotland as well as helping to promote it’s many good causes.  My fees for 2024/5 are £500 plus travel expenses.
