Meet your Celebrant

I’ve had I guess what would be called a portfolio career!  That means I’ve jumped about a bit over the years.  I’m quite inquisitive and love a challenge, so my work has ranged from community relations with ethnic minorities in Edinburgh, to lecturing in the Borders, developing community enterprises in Glasgow, helping women set up micro businesses in Glasgow - took a break to have two wonderful children - and then retrained to become a history teacher in Perth - a brilliant job, challenging at times but right for me.

Five years ago I decided to morph my love of working with people, their stories (the history bit) and talking... so naturally became a Humanist Celebrant!  I can honestly say that I feel it brings together my whole skill set and it’s great fun in the process.  Whichever type of ceremony I’m working on, I meet incredible people who I do my best to support and guide to create the very personal ceremony they are looking for.  This means I have to listen hard and then carefully recreate and model words and emotions to tailor make the right ceremony for them.

Outside of Celebrancy work I love where I live in a small Scottish village on the western edge of Perthshire - a vibrant and creative community where there is always something fun and interesting happening... whether it’s on the community woodland or orchard or walking groups, running or wild swimming ( amazing!), or yoga...  I’m always pretty full on, which is how I seem to like it!

I’m happy to meet you at my home or in our cabin in the garden complete with cozy wood burner for meetings... as you know, the sun isn’t always shining in Scotland! I’m a bit biased but never feel guilty tempting families and couples to meet me in Comrie... we have an amazing Deli and beautiful Art’s and Craft retailers as well as a gorgeous setting... you won’t be disappointed, I promise.
